Archivist, Meijer Heritage Center
We are seeking a professional archivist for 30-35
hours/week to support collections processing and management, digitization, and
management of digital asset management platform (DAM) internally called the
FindIt! Resource Center. The role is a contract position administered through a
contract agency.
The highest needs in the Meijer Archives are collections
processing or accessioning, digitization, and management of the digital asset
management platform.
Collections processing/accessioning: 15 hours/week
Digital Asset Management: 10 hours/week
Digitization: 10 hours/week
Job Summary:
The Meijer Heritage Center (MHC) preserves and presents
the rich cultural history, heritage, and legacy of Meijer, a Midwestern retail
company. The Meijer Archives include assets from the early 20th century
to the present and include paper documents, company records, photographs,
video, memorabilia, and born-digital assets. The MHC Archivist is responsible
for collections intake, appraisal, transfer and documentation. Working closely
with and reporting to the MHC Manager, the Archivist preserves and creates
access to the history of the organization, providing thoughtful and timely
responses to requests for information and historical assets from departments
across the company. The Archivist also administers the digital asset management
platform for the MHC.
Responsibilities/skills:
- Maintain collections in relationship to
existing collections policy, including managing intake, appraisal,
transfer, and documentation of analog and digital assets.
- Develop and implement digitization plans to
ensure access to vital company history using the company digital asset
management (DAM) platform
- Administer the DAM system, currently
Widen/Acquia, in collaboration with the company’s DAM custodians, IT
department, and other relevant vendor partners to monitor, maintain, and
assess storage needs, access, and the backup of systems, databases, and
collections.
- Assessing asset collection database and
Archives workflow processes to identify and recommend improvements based
on the changing needs of the company
- Support the Manager in research and pulling
assets for projects and data inquires.
Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree in Archives and Special
Collections, Archival Studies, Library and Information Science, or
certification in an equivalent field of study, and at least two years of
related experience.
- Highly organized, detail oriented,
self-directed.
- Discrete and committed to confidentiality
- Ability to work effectively and
collaboratively with a cross-functional team.
- Strong writing and research skills
- Knowledge of/experience with digital asset management platforms, including but not limited to Widen/Aquia
