The Archives of Michigan, located in Lansing, MI, is hiring two full-time archivist positions. Postings are open until October 7, 2025.

 Digital Acquisition Archivist (Historian 9-P11)

The Digital Acquisition Services Archivist position will communicate with state agencies, local governments, and private donors to identify, appraise, acquire, and accession digital archival/historical records and facilitate public records access.  This position is responsible for writing and running scripts to package digital records for ingest into the Preservica preservation system.  The digital acquisitions archivist also works with the collections services digital archivist to maintain, troubleshoot, and resolve system issues in Preservica.  This position works on a team to implement and migrate to the ArchiveSpace collections management system.  The digital acquisition archivist also participates in fieldwork projects, provide reference services for the public, and serve on archives cross- unit teams.  This position requires demonstrated technical skills, digital preservation knowledge, and understanding of archival principles and the records lifecycle.

 Acquisition Archivist (Historian 9-P11)

The Acquisition Services Archivist position will communicate with state agencies, local governments, and private donors to identify, appraise, acquire, and accession archival/historical records and facilitate public records access.  This position participates in fieldwork and training across the state to assist state agencies and local government units in the care, management, and transfer of public records.  The acquisition archivist participates in the Save Michigan History federal grant project and contributes to the development of public records retention schedules and instructional training materials for state and local government offices.  This position also provides reference services for the public and serve on archives cross-unit teams.
