Yesterday another of my students from HST 583 gave me this sign as a gift after my letter helped her get accepted into grad school. It's moments like this that keep me going.

1979 AuSable Canoe Race Marathon

  Recently, while processing and describing Channel 9 & 10 News film footage we found a segment of the 1979 AuSable Canoe Race Marathon showing some other race activities, and some of the top finishers. Here are a few images from that segment. The last two images are, I believe, Butch Stockton (brunette) and his partner Bob Welsh (blonde)  heading towards the bank and being briefly interviewed about how sick Butch was all night. They finished fourth that year according to the race statistics.
