1979 AuSable Canoe Race Marathon

Image
Recently, while processing and describing Channel 9 & 10 News film footage we found a segment of the 1979 AuSable Canoe Race Marathon showing some other race activities, and some of the top finishers. The last two images are, I believe, Butch Stockton (brunette) and his partner Bob Welsh (blonde)  heading towards the bank and being briefly interviewed about how sick Butch was all night. They finished fourth that year according to the race statistics. You can Google a longer video online of the end of the race at https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=Ztpi6xRtZqE.  For the stats see https://www.ausablecanoemarathon.org/stats-and-history/past-race-results/.

As a screenwriter, my debut screenplay placed third in the Broadcast Education Association’s Student Filmmaking Festival; and as a playwright, I am a six-time Kennedy Center American College...
